The Young Professionals Council of the Gay and Lesbian Center of OC Presents: Movie Night - Tomboy

Part of the mission of The Center OC, and thus its young professionals council, is to provide services that ensure the well-being and positive identity of the Orange County lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community. This film about a gender-variant child supports that mission by raising awareness of transgender and gender-variant individuals.

This month’s film synopsis:

A French family with two daughters, 10-year-old Laure and 6-year-old Jeanne, moves to a new neighborhood during the summer holidays. With her Jean Seberg haircut and tomboy ways, Laure is immediately mistaken for a boy by the local kids and passes herself off as Michael. Filmmaker Céline Sciamma brings a light and charming touch to this drama of childhood gender confusion. Zoe Heran as Laure/Michael and Malonn Levanna as Jeanne are nothing less than brilliant. This is a relationship movie: relationships between children, and the even more complicated one between one's heart and body. -- (C) Rocket Releasing

EVENT IS CAFÉ STYLE – Guests are welcome to bring their own food and beer and wine refreshments.  Wine glasses will be provided, however, please bring your own utensils and plates.

Funds raised at this event directly support programs and services that The Center OC provides to the LGBT community, ensuring its well-being and positive identity. Your support helps: provide a safe space for youth to "come out" and develop a positive identity; support LGBT-affirmative, sliding-scale counseling for community members; offer a clean, safe meeting space for social, support and community-organizing meetings; assist seniors in finding LGBT-affirmative social services in Orange County.
